ZJIET Successfully Holds Its 42nd Athletics Sports Meet and 11th Faculty Fun Games​

Chasing dreams on the field, youth soaring high—from October 29 to 30, the 42nd Athletics Sports Meet and 11th Faculty Fun Games of Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade (ZJIET) were successfully held at the campus sports ground.


 A total of 22 competing teams and 1,010 athletes, full of vigor and determination, delivered an exhilarating sports spectacle for the entire university community.

The opening ceremony took place on the morning of October 29. Lao Ciming, Secretary of the University Party Committee, delivered an opening address. He emphasized that ZJIET consistently upholds the educational philosophy of “integration of the 'Five Educations'”and places sports in a prominent position as a key driver for enhancing the institution’s connotative development and talent cultivation quality. He noted that the outstanding performances of teachers and students in various sports competitions have fully demonstrated the“ZJIET spirit”and earned widespread acclaim for the university. Secretary Lao expressed hope that the sports meet would inspire the entire community to embrace the essence of sportsmanship—perseverance, teamwork, and respect for rules—and channel it into their studies and work, contributing to the Chinese path to modernization with healthier bodies, greater enthusiasm, and a more joyful spirit.

Against the backdrop of uplifting march music, the national flag guard entered the sports ground with confident strides. Athlete contingents from different schools, faculty representatives, and referee delegations passed the rostrum in turn, showcasing the vibrant and spirited demeanor of ZJIET members in the new era.

Ye Huile, a student from Class 232 of International Trade in the School of Digital Trade, and Ren Liqiang, a teacher from the Physical Education Teaching and Research Office, took the oath on behalf of all athletes and referees, respectively.

Over the two-day event, the sports ground was filled with an atmosphere of unity, determination, and progress. All athletes competed in the spirit of the Olympic motto—“Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”—striving to achieve new personal bests and demonstrate superb sports skills. The referees performed their duties with impartiality, while staff members collaborated seamlessly to ensure the smooth execution of the games. Spectators cheered enthusiastically and courteously, contributing to a harmonious and lively environment.

After intense competition, the School of Business Intelligenceclaimed the top spot in the overall student group standings, followed by the School of Digital Finance and the School of Digital Trade. He Huayu from the School of Business Intelligence was named Best Male Athlete, while Ye Huile from the School of Digital Trade received the Best Female Athlete award. The School of Digital Finance and the School of Business Intelligence were recognized with the “Best Organization Award.” The School of Food and Health, the School of Creative Design, and the School of Digital Trade received the “Sportsmanship Award.” The School of Continuing Education and the School of International Education were honored with the “Best Presentation Award.” In the Faculty Fun Games, the teams from the School of Business Intelligence and the School of Digital Finance won first and second place, respectively.

At the closing ceremony on the afternoon of October 30, university leaders presented awards to the winning groups and individuals. President Chen Dequan delivered the closing speech, congratulating the winners and expressing gratitude to the referees and staff. He highlighted that the sports meet served as both a comprehensive review of the university’s sports initiatives and a vivid showcase of the community’s vitality and cohesion. President Chen encouraged everyone to carry the same perseverance and teamwork displayed during the games into their studies, work, and daily lives, contributing to the high-quality development of ZJIET and the broader cause of national modernization.
