On October 27, China-Philippines E-commerce and Information Technology National Vocational Skills Competency Standards Development Seminar was successfully held in our institute (ZJIET) This event was co-organized by the institute and China-Philippines Silk Road Institution Foundation, Inc. and jointly hosted by the National New Generation Computer Application Industry Education Integration Community, Zhejiang E-commerce Textbook Construction Research Base and Botok Tech. Co., Ltd.
Present at the seminar were Vidal D. Villanueva, deputy director-general of the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Hongyang ZHANG, chairman of China-Philippines Silk Road Institution Foundation, Inc., Rosalina S. Constantin, executive director-general of TESDA Regional Operation Management Department, Daisy Bungallon, executive director-general of Cordilleras Technical Education College along with heads from TESDA Women’s Center, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades, New Lucena Polytechnic College, Regional Training Center Talisay, Regional Training Center-Zamboanga Paninsula, Cagayan de Oro (Bugo) School of Arts & Trades, Navotas Training Institute, and Isabela College of Arts and Technology. Also present at the seminar were Gangqiang QIN, vice-president of Beijing Botok, and Jian CHEN, vice-president of Ningbo Economic & Trade School as well as ZJIET president Dequan CHEN and vice-president Feng LIN. Participants also included heads of our secondary schools, deans of teaching research offices, full-time teachers, along with faculty members from the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, the International Exchange & Cooperation Center and the School of International Education.
On behalf of the entire institute, President Dequan CHEN extended his warm welcome to the TESDA delegation. He briefed the participants on the institute’s basic information, historical development and specialty features, with a focus on the institute’s work of education internationalization and achievements in China-Philippines cooperation. He remarked that seeking cooperation and common development is in line with the fundamental interests of both China and the Philippines. Upholding openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, he said, ZJIET has been building bridges for pragmatic cooperation and working in collaboration to facilitate China-Philippines cultural exchange and mutual understanding so that vocational education in both countries can achieve high-quality development.
Vidal D. Villanueva expressed his appreciation for the institute’s warm reception and high regard as well as his admiration for its educational philosophy, teaching conditions and educational achievements. On behalf of the government and the educational circle of the Philippines, he expressed his hope to introduce China’s advanced vocational education philosophy and deepen exchanges and cooperation in the future so that high-quality development of vocational education can be realized in China and the Philippines.
Hongyang ZHANG expounded on the linking role of the Foundation in vocational education cooperation on information technology. The Foundation, she said, will make every effort to unite vocational colleges and enterprises in China and the Philippines and promote the integration of wisdom and strength between both parties. More efforts will be made to build educational and exchange platforms for the youth in both countries and to create a wider range of opportunities for apprenticeship and employment. The Foundation wishes to, through coordination between multiple parties, promote the vocational skill competency standard development and make contributions to the economic development and social progress in both countries.
Centered around “standard formulation, brand radiation and output-oriented teaching”, Feng LIN gave a detailed introduction to the institute’s Double High construction and achievements in co-construction and sharing. Through in-depth discussion at this seminar, he hoped, the institute’s educational quality, school-running level and international influence can be further enhanced and collaborated efforts are needed to advance deep cooperation, mutual learning in vocational education between the two parties and promote high-quality development of vocational education in China and the Philippines.
The theme of the international seminar is the development of China-Philippines national vocational skill competency standard on e-commerce and information technology. Experts at the seminar made in-depth discussion about the opportunities, risks and challenges in international standard development and approaches for China-Philippines cooperation. Gangqiang QIN said that against the backdrop of rapidly developing digital economy, Beijing Botok will take digital skill development as its objective and make development opportunities brought by the digital era available to more people. Dean of the School of Business Intelligence Jian HU remarked that, as a representative of digital economy, e-commerce is leading a new trend of international digital trade. In the current era of global economic integration and digital transformation, e-commerce specialty cluster of the institute will give full play to its advantages and make contributions to vocational skill competency standard development for e-commerce and information technology in China and the Philippines.
During the seminar, guests also paid a visit to the Digital Craftsman Institute and knew more about the institute’s fruits and management mode in e-commerce and information technology.
