On October 25, the unveiling ceremony of the Haaga-Helia Digital Technology and Operation Joint School was successfully held in the library auditorium. Attendees included school president Chen Dequan, vice president of Finland's Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Jouni Ahonen, director of international affairs, Pasi Halamaari, and head of the Chinese affairs department, Zhao Han. Additionally, leaders from relevant departments such as the College of Business Intelligence, Creative Design College, International Education College, and International Exchange and Cooperation Center, along with all faculty and students of the joint college, participated in the event.

Chen Dequan delivered a speech on behalf of the school. He pointed out that the establishment of the Haaga-Helia Digital Technology and Operation Joint School represents a significant upgrade in the school's international cooperative education from projects to institutions. Since its successful approval in October 2022, the joint college has enrolled a total of 273 students in e-commerce and hotel management and digital operations (cooperative education with foreign institutions). Under the leadership of the college management committee, the Sino-Finnish faculty team has collaborated effectively, learned from each other, innovated training modes, improved the teaching management system, and significantly enhanced the quality of international talent cultivation. He hopes that in the future, both sides can develop comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in professional development, scientific research, technical services, and “Chinese + vocational skills” education, creating a new landscape of educational development characterized by collaboration and mutual benefits, and contributing to the socio-economic development of both China and Finland. 

Jouni Ahonen delivered a speech on behalf of the Finnish institution. He expressed gratitude for the efforts the school has made in building the joint college. He stated that Haaga-HeliaUniversity of Applied Sciences will continue to provide high-quality teaching resources for joint college students by optimizing English courses, supervising education quality, and offering online learning resources and degree enhancement platforms to improve the learning experience. He looks forward to both sides working together to continuously expand the cooperation both in depth and scale.

In the second phase of the event, Chinese and foreign teachers conducted a unique orientation for the 2024 cohort of the joint college. Pasi Halamaari introduced the higher education system in Finland and provided an overview of Haaga-HeliaUniversity of Applied Sciences, emphasizing the importance of cultivating practical abilities and innovative thinking through specific case studies. He encouraged all students in the joint college to actively participate in international cultural exchange activities and continuously enhance their overall quality and international competence.

Zou Yujin, a representative of the Chinese faculty at the joint college, shared methods and techniques for studying English-taught courses from the perspectives of language and professional learning, motivating students to engage actively in classroom interactions and stay informed about industry trends and cutting-edge knowledge while developing their English skills and intercultural communication abilities.

Student representatives Shao Tianyi, a second-year student in e-commerce (cooperative education) and Wang Peixuan, a first-year student in hotel management and digital operations (cooperative education), also shared their personal experiences, injecting inspiration and vitality into the students present.

The Haaga-Helia Digital Technology and Operation Joint School is a non-independent legal entity established in cooperation between our school and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Leveraging the school’s strengths in e-commerce, hospitality management, and digital operations, the college adopts a “3+0” talent cultivation model. Upholding the cooperative philosophy of “taking the lead and learning from each other,” it integrates high-quality educational resources from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences to jointly cultivate international, high-quality technical talents with broad professional knowledge and strong practical innovation capabilities.
