During the 25th China International Education Annual Forum, a sub-forum of the forum, entitled Discussion Session on Sino-Foreign Cooperation in Vocational Education: New Ideas, New Paths, and New Measures, was successfully held by the Sino-Foreign Cooperation Committee of China Education International Exchange Association and Guangdong Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power at the Beijing International Convention Center. Fang Jun, the former deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of China’s Ministry of Education, and An Yan, the deputy secretary-general of China Education International Exchange Association attended the meeting. Nearly 200 representatives from governments, colleges and universities, industries, enterprises, and research institutions participated in this forum. Si Yin Xia, the dean of the School of International Education at our school, was invited to attend the forum and share her ideas during the exchange session.

Fang Jun delivered a keynote speech on High-Quality Development of Sino-Foreign Cooperation in Vocational Education Under the New International Situation, sharing his understanding and expectations for Sino-foreign cooperation in vocational education. He pointed out that institutions engaged in Sino-foreign cooperation must clarify their goals and ideas, and continue to enhance their awareness and ability to prevent risks. An Yan introduced the overall situation of Sino-foreign cooperation in vocational education in China as well as a series of key projects carried out by the exchange association in this field.

During the roundtable forum session, Si Yin Xia and four other representatives from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Jinhua Polytechnic University, Wuxi Vocational and Technical Institute, and Shaanxi Railway Engineering Vocational and Technical College had an exchange and discussion on high-quality development of Sino-foreign cooperation. Drawing on the practical experience of our school’s collaboration with Hageria Applied Science University in establishing the Haaga-Helia  Digital Technology and Operation Joint School, she highlighted two topics: the internationalization of teaching staff in Sino-foreign cooperation and cross-cultural training for students enrolled in Sino-foreign cooperation programs. She pointed out that to achieve the integration and innovative development of high-quality vocational education resources worldwide, it is crucial to build an international teaching team and develop a curriculum system that focuses on internationalization while being grounded in local context. Our school will work together with our foreign partner institutions to actively explore a talent training model that combines distinctive industry features with internationalization on the platform of resource integration and sharing between the two parties. This collaboration aims to cultivate a group of high-quality technical and skilled talents with both international and local perspectives, making efforts to achieve high-level international exchanges in vocational education and high-quality development of Sino-foreign cooperation in education.
