The School of International Education is an educational institution established in June 2023 upon approval by the Office of Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Public Sector Reform. It persists in the two-way school-running philosophy of “introducing overseas educational resources and going global”, focuses on building an internationalized high-skilled talent cultivation system, continuously enhances the quality of education, and constantly promotes the high-quality development of the school in the new era to empower the new quality productive forces in the region. The School, grounded on four provincial “Belt and Road” silk road colleges and the “Belt and Road” E-business valley, among other project cooperation platforms, and aligning with the practical needs of industrial iterative upgrading of the provincial Chinese enterprises “going global” and national overseas economic and trade parks, actively broadens the fields of international cooperation, expands the avenues for international cooperation, innovatively launches “multi-party collaborative education programs” involving schools, governments, industry associations and enterprises, continuously advances the cultivation of international talents proficient in “language + culture + skills”, and provides high-quality services for regional economic and social development. At present, the School has cumulatively enrolled nearly 70 full-time international students from countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Russia and Tajikistan, and given online and offline training to a total of up to 15,000 short-term international students in China. The School boasts an International Chinese Language Teaching and Research Office, which currently has four full-time teachers and two part-time teachers, including one with the doctorate. The Office actively pushes forward the discipline development and the talent cultivation mode reform, innovatively constructs a precise and modular talent cultivation mode integrating “language + culture + skills” for international students, and efficiently nurtures highly skilled talents who understand, are friendly to and love China.
The Haaga-Helia Digital Technology and Operation Joint School, a non-independent legal entity jointly established by Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade (hereinafter referred to as “ZJIET”) and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, is a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution. It was approved for establishment by the provincial government and registered with the Ministry of Education after review in 2022, and began its first enrollment and training in 2023. The School offers two Sino-Finnish cooperative education programs: Electronic Commerce and Hotel Management & Digital Operations. Currently, it boasts 42 Sino-Finnish teachers and 278 students at school. It aims to cultivate high-quality international talents proficient in digital skills and with an international perspective, innovative capabilities, and a sense of patriotism. The School has set up a joint management committee, three specialized committees and a supervisory working group, and has introduced a number of management systems to continuously enhance the construction of its institutional and mechanism framework. The School, adhering to the Sino-Finnish collaborative education concept of “high-quality introduction - integration & innovation”, continuously deepens educational and teaching reforms, develops international teaching resources, and effectively elevates the level of international talent cultivation. The School’s “Institution-driven and Introduction & Output Combined, Promote Two-way Efforts in China-Finland Vocational Education Cooperation: Innovative Exploration and Practice in China-Finland Collaborative Education Institution Building at Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade” has been selected as an Outstanding Case of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education in Zhejiang Province in 2024.
