Introduction to the School of Cooperative Economics

The School of Cooperative Economics was established in April 2021 and is a secondary college based on the modern-agriculture-related professions. A distinctive education system has been built here. The school endeavors to maintain the characteristics of serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers and adheres to its motto of revering agriculture, emphasizing farming, cultivating culture and promoting integration, aiming to serve the rural revitalization strategies and agricultural power construction to realize common wealth. It has developed a new model for educating students with high-quality and compound new agricultural skills. The model is featured with leading with standards, teaching with culture and empowering with the platform. Students are expected to become new agricultural technicians who love agriculture and have a good command of agricultural technology and who are good at management as well. They shall be able to work in the field, be willing to take on tasks, and shall love to stay and perform well. The school is to be built into a highland for cultivating high-quality skilled agricultural talents with compound capabilities.

Currently three majors are run at the school, namely, Tea Art and Tea Culture, Management of New Rural Economic Organizations, and Horticultural Technology. The school runs a key think tank of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, or the so-called Cooperative Economics Studies think tank. Besides, the editorial department of the Zhejiang Cooperative Economics magazine, the Zhejiang Cooperative Economics Research Institute, and the Institute of Agricultural Product Brands and Standards are also homed here. Among others, the Tea Art and Tea Culture major is the secretariat unit of the Tea Art and Tea Marketing professional guiding committee that is subordinated to the National Vocational Education Committee. It is also a vantage major in the Zhejiang Supply and Marketing System. The Management of New Rural Economic Organizations major is elected as a key major for serving the Supply and Marketing System and rural revitalization. The Horticultural Technology major is a characteristic major greatly supported by the university, with over 630 students currently enrolled. 

Fifty full-time and part-time teachers work here, among whom 25 are gurus in the industry, 25 are full-time teachers, and 18 have senior professional titles. One faculty is the deputy director of the Supply and Marketing professional guiding committee that is subordinated to the National Vocational Education Committee; one is entitled a provincial professional leader; one is an elected provincial teaching star; two are Zhejiang Technological Commissioners; and two are entitled Zhejiang Craftsmen. Three of the full-time teachers have a doctor’s degree, while all of them have a master's degree.

The school has led and participated in making over 10 national or industry standards, three of which have earned positive comments from provincial and ministerial leaders. One textbook has been selected as one of the 14th Five-Year Plan national planning textbooks, four are listed as provincial key textbooks. One course is entitled a national-level excellent online course and four are named provincial-level excellent courses. The school also has one provincial-level female workers' innovation studio, one cultural and tourism integrated industry college, and one provincial-level science popularization base for labor literacy. The teaching quality has been steadily improved, with an 100% employment rate of the graduates, an over 95% average satisfaction rate of the graduates with the school, a 9% entrepreneurship rate, and an 100% satisfaction rate of the employers with the graduates.
