On the morning of July 5th, the opening ceremony of the 21st National Taiwan Compatriot Youth Summer Camp Zhejiang Session was officially held in the second-floor lecture hall of the school's Conference Center. Student representatives from 22 Taiwanese universities, including National Tsing Hua University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Soochow University, Feng Chia University, and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, gathered at our school, embarking on an exciting journey in Zhejiang. The summer camp is guided by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, hosted by the Zhejiang Overseas Friendship Association and Zhejiang Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association, and co-organized by our school.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Chen Qingli, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Standing Committee member of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association; Fang Ying, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Zhejiang Province; Chen Dequan, President of our school; Tao Jun, a National People's Congress (NPC) deputy, Standing Committee member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Provincial CPPCC, and the full-time Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association; Vice Chairman Wu Liang; Jiang Jun, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education; and Ren Xiuhua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Overseas Friendship Association. The opening ceremony was hosted by Tao Jun.
In her speech, Chen Qingli reviewed the achievements of the Zhejiang Session over the years. She expressed her hope that Taiwanese students would uphold the spirit of seeking truth, integrate their personal dreams into the great cause of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by experiencing and sharing the diverse aspects of Chinese-style modernization by embracing a spirit of hard work, and pursue a vibrant life on a broader stage, thereby providing new momentum for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. She emphasized that the Zhejiang Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association, as a vital bridge for cross-strait exchanges, would continue to uphold the principle of one family across the Strait and actively contribute to the process of promoting cross-strait integration.
In his speech, Chen Dequan welcomed the arrival of the Taiwanese youths and briefly introduced our school's educational achievements. He noted that our school has always greatly valued exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan, establishing friendly and stable cooperative relationships with many Taiwanese institutions. The school has consistently conducted various cultural exchange activities, such as the Zhejiang-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Camp, the Zhejiang-Taiwan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, faculty visits, and student exchange programs. Several projects have been approved as key Taiwan exchange projects, making significant progress in teacher sharing, resource building, and talent cultivation. The Provincial Department of Education and the Taiwan Affairs Office have awarded our school the title of Zhejiang Provincial University Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Platform. He hoped that through this exchange activity, youths from both sides of the strait would deepen their understanding, share happiness, enhance friendships, and work together towards the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Lai Ying-Chen, a student from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, spoke on behalf of all the campers. He expressed his great anticipation for the summer camp, which has been meticulously organized by the Zhejiang Overseas Friendship Association, Zhejiang Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association, and our school. He looked forward to making new friends, sharing experiences, broadening horizons, deepening friendships, and strengthening interactions with business and trade students, thereby promoting cross-strait integration and development.

After the opening ceremony, the campers visited the school history museum and the supply and marketing culture exhibition hall. Through these visits, they gained a deeper understanding of the school's development history and the important role played by supply and marketing cooperatives in promoting economic development and modern agricultural construction. Additionally, under the guidance of faculty teams from the College of Public Education and the College of Cooperative Economics, they completed three themed experiential classes under the theme Song Dynasty Elegance, Double Education Fusion. The Zhejiang and Taiwan youths experienced traditional Chinese culture through immersive activities such as handcrafting fans, Song Dynasty tea ceremonies, and traditional flower arranging, experiencing the unique charm and historical value of Chinese cultural heritage.
This year marks the 21st anniversary of the National Taiwan Compatriot Youth Summer Camp. As a co-organizer of this year's camp, our school has actively invited faculty and students from partner institutions in Taiwan to exchange with us in Zhejiang. During the camp, our school will also hold a concurrent Song Dynasty Elegance Connecting Both Sides, Double Education Creating the Future Zhejiang-Taiwan Youth Exchange Activity. Through organizing various activities like Song Dynasty cultural heritage classes, labor education practice classes, cross-strait faculty and student fun competitions, double education practice base visits, and faculty and student double-education teaching exchanges, we aim to enhance the understanding of traditional culture among youths from both sides of the strait, deepen their mutual understanding, and strengthen comprehensive skills, thereby improving educational outcomes.
