On April 8, the annual ZJIET Education Internationalization Committee meeting was successfully held. The CPC Secretary Lao Ciming, President Chen Dequan, all the members of the ZJIET Education Internationalization Committee and all the teachers of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center attended the meeting. Vice President Lin Feng presided over it.
Lao Ciming delivered a keynote speech entitled Steady and Long-term Openness and Cooperation: High-quality International Cooperation Facilitates ZJIET to Develop to a Higher Level with Excellence. He pointed out that the internationalization of higher education has entered a new stage of improving quality and efficiency, and the school should respond to the nation’s strategic deployment of education. Focusing on the development demand of the new quality productivity in Zhejiang Province and the requirements for constructing high-quality highlands of education opening to the outside world, ZJIET actively plans for and acts on fortifying the political leadership in steering education internationalization in the new era. We should improve the precision of positioning and optimize the top-level design of education internationalization to enhance our core competitiveness as a characteristic brand. We shall increase the essential supports and promote the efficiency of education internationalization. He called for an all-member political practice and load-carrying in making innovative breakthroughs with multiple integration. We shall adhere to the coming in and going out two-way overall planning, double-effect improvement to solidify the ZJIET education internationalization work by leaping to a new level.
Chen Dequan made a report briefing the Education Internationalization work in 2023 and the work plan in 2024. He reviewed and summarized the main work of education internationalization in 2023 from the aspects of optimizing the system and mechanism of enhancing the capabilities of training the international talents in Zhejiang and of serving the Belt and Road Initiatives, of expanding international cooperation and improving the quality and efficient exchanges with schools from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. He objectively analyzed the current gaps to make up and urgent problems to be solved. Focusing on the next round of constructing the Double High Plan and the key reform and construction tasks of the modern vocational education system proposed by the Ministry of Education, he put forward the general ideas of the ZJIET education internationalization work in 2024. He pointed out that the school should continue the high-level opening to the outside world, focusing on the actual contents of education internationalization. By creating high-quality brand programs and high-level landmark achievements, we shall constantly promote the construction of an international talent training highland.
Three proposals were reviewed on the meeting, namely, the Implementation Details of International Student Enrollment Regulation (draft for reviewing), the Implementation Details of Non-academic International Student Management (draft for reviewing), and the 2023 International Student Admissions (draft for reviewing). He announced the plans for the teachers going abroad to work or to study, the review and report of overseas training and international online teaching courses. Based on the annual report on the 2022 Zhejiang Province education internationalization development, the International Exchange and Cooperation Center representative interpreted and analyzed the general review of education internationalization situation in ZJIET, sorting out the shortcomings and specific tasks of the Center’s next-step work.
