A new chapter in the Silk Road cooperation to serve the Belt and Road Initiatives -- Secretary of the CPC ZJIET Committee Lao Ciming visited Thailand and Indonesia with the provincial education delegation

To implement President Xi Jinping’s important interpretation of the Belt and Road Initiatives and his speech on the opening ceremony of the 3rd Belt and Road International Summit and to solidify the “Eight-Eight Strategy”, Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, led a delegation from Zhejiang Province to Indonesia and Thailand from November 12 to 18. The trip is paid to further expand the opening up and exchange in Zhejiang and to promote the Belt and Road Initiatives with high quality services. Lao Ciming, Secretary of the CPC ZJIET Committee went along as a representative of higher vocational colleges and attended the related project signing and exchange activities.


 


In Thailand, Lao Ciming attended the 2023 China (Zhejiang)-Thailand Cooperation and Exchange Conference. In the presence of Yi Lianhong and Pingpatara Witsekul, Minister of Industry of Thailand and on behalf of ZJIET, Lao Ciming signed the MOU of the Sino-Thai Chinese + Vocational Skills Cooperation with Song Chai, president of the Eastern Vocational Education Group of Thailand. The two parties will jointly implement and promote the Sino-Thai Chinese + Vocational Skills projects on multi-levels and in multi-types by adhering to the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. Projects may be focused on standards construction, resource development, teacher training, vocational skills training and certification issuing, academic and talent exchanges as effective promotions of building high-quality vocational skill standards under the Belt and Road Initiatives. The two sides will explore together a training mode for high-quality skilled personnel that will be adapted to the future society with high skill demands and will share opportunities brought by the digital economy development to empower regional economic transformation and upgrading.


Besides, the delegation visited the Thailand Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, KRIRK University, and participated in the International Seminar on Chinese education and teaching in the local Confucius Institute (classroom). In-depth discussions and exchanges were carried out about teacher and student exchanges, school running cooperation, and international Chinese teaching.



In Indonesia, Lao Ciming was invited to attend the 2023 China (Zhejiang)-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation & Exchange Meeting co-organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Marine and Investment Coordination and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. As one of the first members of the China-Indonesia Vocational Education Industry and Education Alliance, Lao Ciming discussed and studied with the Indonesian education and business representatives, who unanimously expressed their good will of practical education cooperation in a friendly setting. A series of agreement were achieved on jointly building the Belt and Road colleges in Indonesia, committing Chinese+ Vocational Skills education and constructing digitalized intelligent and bilingual teaching resources.



During the visit, Lao went with the delegation to Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Mercu Buana University, the Chinese Mission to ASEAN and Zhenshi Holding Group Co., LTD., having in-depth exchanges and discussions on jointly training talents between schools and enterprises, sharing professional standards, exchanging teachers and students, and constructing overseas teaching establishments.


In recent years, ZJIET has actively served the joint construction of the Belt and Road, taking the lead in establishing the Belt and Road vocational and language training centers. It is the first among provincial higher vocational colleges that have set up an overseas Silk Road College. At present, ZJIET has established cooperative relations with more than 10 countries along the Belt and Road. By setting up various types of overseas teaching sites and building international cooperation platforms for industries, universities and research, ZJIET has carried out multi-type and multi-channel international education practice and exploration, innovated the internationalized local talent training mode and the localized overseas mode, and improved the development level of the overseas enterprises in and out of the country. ZJIET is actively committed to spreading the Chinese artisan spirits, advanced vocational education experience, and the distinctive language and culture. It has effectively contributed to cultural exchanges, mutual learning and sharing of technical skills under the Belt and Road Initiatives.
