From August 15th to August 18th, the 7th China (Changsha) “Education Plus” International Summit and Exhibition for Vocational Education and Training was held in the Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center. Nearly 10,000 representatives from over 200 universities and enterprises of more than 10 countries and regions around the world attended the conference. ZJIET President Chen Dequan was invited to attend the opening ceremony and relevant forums.
The conference, held under the auspices of the China Vocational Education Association, Changsha municipal government, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the German Federal Institute of Vocational and Technical Education and Training, Didacta Association, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research the Vocational Education and Training Office, the British National Degree Assessment and Accreditation Council and so on, aims to further promote the integration of industry and education and the cooperation between enterprises and colleges, the sharing of international practices in vocational education, the construction of the first-class local vocational and technical education highland and the presentation of new looks of international cooperation in vocational education.
At the opening ceremony, in recognition of the outstanding colleges and institutions in education internationalization, the Education Plus 2023 International Vocational Education Outstanding Contribution Award List was released. A total of nine vocational college presidents were elected, and President Chen Dequan was among the recipients.
During the conference, the signing and launching ceremony of Skillman (Asia Pacific Area) and the International Forum of Skillman were held. ZJIET was invited as the deputy director unit of Skillman (Asia Pacific Area). President Chen Dequan, Chairman of Skillman Giovanni Collison, and Dr. Bai Yun, vice chair of UNESCO Convention on the Global Recognition of Higher Education, attended the ceremony.
Skillman was founded in 2014 and headquartered in the EU as a member of the European Commission. It is a global organization of vocational and professional researchers and institutions, committed to introducing advanced manufacturing skills and innovative curriculum into vocational and technical education and training.
President Chen Dequan made a speech with the title of The Exploration and Practice of the Localized Overseas New Business Talent Training Model. From strengthening the consciousness of purpose, the ZJIET president stressed on building an enterprise main body and four linkage characteristic model of integration of industry and education; establishing a sense of innovation, and forging a skill core and five in one characteristic curricula system for overseas new business talent training. He also talked about the innovative customized talent training program integrating resources both online and offline, in and out of the country. Citing the ZJIET China-Thai Rayong Silkroad College as an example, he introduced the actual practice and achievements of the college in promoting the integration of structural elements between the demand side of industry and the supply side of new business talents training in partner countries and innovating the localized talent training programs.
During the conference, the list of preeminent co-built Belt & Road vocational education programs was announced. Out of over 300 candidate programs, the ZJIET program Establish a new localized training model overseas by integrating industry and education and by coordinating the government, society, enterprises and schools” was elected.
Also held at the same time was an industry-education Integration Expo and an exhibition of the achievements of the Belt & Road Vocational Education Cooperation. ZJIET set up a booth in the exhibition area of vocational education cooperation and competitiveness to showcase its education characteristics and success in such aspects as Party building and leadership, student development, industry-education integration, education and teaching reform, social service, quality assurance, international exchange and cooperation.
Education Plus is a high-quality vocational education international exchange platform that adopts international standards, combines diversified professional exhibitions and seminars, and integrates Chinese and overseas industry associations, leading enterprises, applied technical and vocational colleges and research institutes. This session of the conference focused on the five major sectors of international exhibitions, college exhibitor groups, summit forums, research salons and a discovery tour, conducted an in-depth discussion on the integration of industry-education skills and talent cultivation and sustainable development, shared advanced practical experiences of international vocational education and connected high-quality resources of vocational education.
