As time flies, great works are updated quickly, spring is almost here and the New Year begins. When the New Year of 2023 comes to corner, we hereby give our warm thanks and best wishes to our faculty, staff and students who work hard and forge ahead, to the retired colleagues who never stopped working, to the alumni and their families who are concerned about the school and serve the society, and to the friends at home and abroad working in all sectors of the society who have been concerned with Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade(hereinafter referred to as ZJIET) and have been so supportive to the school development.
The year 2022 is a milestone year in history for the development of the party and country. The 20th National Congress of the CPC was held successfully drawing a grand blueprint for the Chinese modernization, opening a new chapter in the cause of the socialism with Chinese characteristics in a New Era, and pointing out a direction for the higher vocational education development. In this year, all the ZJIET faculty and staff and students have kept up with the party and followed up with the nation, holding up high the great banner of Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the new era in the in-depth study, spreading and implementation of the gist of the 20th National Congress. To implement the mission of fostering virtue through education, we set the goal of building a high-level vocational university, losing no time to work hard and to write a chapter of endeavors in the high-quality development with inspiration and perspiration.
In this year, we consolidated the foundation in spiritual life and added vitality to the party strength. We persisted in guiding the high-quality development with a reinforced party life, seeking to implement the project of passing down the Red tradition and reinforcing foundations. We continued to consolidate and expand the achievements of party history learning and teaching and promoted the actual effects in all-round and multi-dimensional party life. We have gained nearly 20 honors, such as the Provincial Model Party Branch Committee and the nomination of “the Most Popular Collegiate Secretary of the party among Teachers and Students”. We have set up one national model branch committee and one benchmarking department of the party work among the colleges and universities in the province.
In this year, we have worked hard to develop the university for the mission of educating students with morality and virtues. We kept in mind the original mission of educating talents for the party and the nation and deepened the comprehensive reform of educating students throughout their time in the school. Constantly we advanced the “target-oriented project” and the quality improvement in ideological and political work; increased the education quality through “moral education, intellectual education, physical education, aesthetic education, and labor education”. Our students have won scholarships above the provincial level, won prizes in the vocational skill competitions and challenging cup, creating a new record in both quantity and quality of the awards. They have obtained a bronze medal in the First World Vocational School Skills Competition and the school has been honored the pilot institute of the comprehensive reform of the “one-stop” community education mode granted by the Ministry of Education. Besides, 14 projects have been selected as the provincial level ideological and political courses.
In this year, we have worked diligently and conscientiously, strengthening the core values by improving teaching quality and cultivating the excellent young. We comprehensively advanced the construction for the plan of “high level vocational schools and high level major construction with Chinese characteristics”, deepened the reform of “teachers quality, textbooks, teaching methods”, optimized the major construction, intensified the supervised reforms, and tamped the “lifeline” of high-quality development. Eleven key textbooks have been approved in the first batch writing projects in the province for the “14th Five-year Plan”; another twelve textbooks have been identified as the new-form provincial collegiate textbooks for the “13th Five-year Plan”; 13 courses have been selected as the national or the provincial level outstanding online courses. The university has been elected as an Excellent Pilot University for the 1+X Certificate of the Ministry of Education and a Comprehensive Pilot School for the Provincial Education Evaluation Reform.
In this year, we have forged ahead and cooperated sincerely to promote development. We deeply promoted the integration of production and education through the four-party cooperation between the school, society, government and enterprise, and accelerated the construction of a modern vocational education system which could meet the regional economic and social development. Besides, we established a new round of strategic cooperation with the governments and industries in various places, closely cooperated with multiple leading enterprises and built a display hall of agricultural brand products, a brand research center and several industrial/characteristic colleges.
In this year, we have worked together to overcome the difficulties and to climb up high. With a positive attitude, we faced against various difficulties and challenges, making efforts in the pandemic prevention and control on the campus for security and stability. We made every effort in student admissions, employment, innovation and entrepreneurship. We made great achievements in the national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. Among others, we won a gold and a silver medal in the China International “Internet +” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which is a historic breakthrough. We hatched 27 innovation and entrepreneurship projects (teams). The school was enlisted in the first batch of the National Training Bases for Improving College Students' Employment and Entrepreneurial Ability, and the Zhejiang Chengcheng Tea Innovation Space was archived as a provincial record.
In this year, we have tried to seek methods, pursue excellence and undertake responsibilities. We worked well in introducing, educating, using, reserving and favoring talents by constantly introducing high-level talents and adaptable talents, implementing the projects of improving the faculty competence, quality and scientific research ability, and further increasing the overall strength of the faculty. Our teachers devoted themselves to research and teaching, winning honors in teaching ability competitions and ideological and political theory teaching skill competitions. They were enlisted in the first batch of Huang Danian teams among the Zhejiang universities and the Zhejiang vocational education innovative teaching teams.
In this year, we have worked energetically and ran the school in an open way, gaining rich fruits. We strived to establish an international education path of promoting the two-way cooperation by introducing international programs and reaching out for the integration of production and education. We have signed cooperative agenda with colleges and universities of multiple countries; have developed online courses and have created a new record number of the overseas student trainees. We have set up a new overseas Silk Road College; a project that has been selected as a China-Germany Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Project of the Ministry of Education; three projects have been selected into the first batch of “the Belt and Road ‘Silk Road College’” projects of Zhejiang Province. In addition, we have set up a Sino-foreign cooperative education establishment, being elected as the First Chair Unit of Western Australia-Zhejiang Higher Vocational Education Consortium.
In this year, our original intention has been like a rock and we have served the agriculture, rural areas and rural residents for common prosperity. Taking the provincial talent training and education base as a carrier of the industry common prosperity, we strived for being a “leading school of co-prosperity” promoting the leapfrog and high-quality development of 26 counties in mountainous areas. We took on the one-on-one partnership support and assistance work actively. In total, we have trained more than 25,000 rural vitalization cadres, and set up more than 100 village (community) “sunshine spaces”. We have been elected to be one of the first institutions in Zhejiang Province that are qualified training program evaluators. The Typical Case of Promoting Rural Revitalization with College Education series has won an award of being archived in the collections of the Case Video Library of the Ministry of Education.
In this year, we have been persistent in caring the teachers and students. Giving priority to humanity, we vigorously promoted smart campus, green campus, peaceful campus, clean campus and harmonious campus construction to create a safe, convenient and efficient campus environment. We focused on what the teachers and students were mostly anxious about, practically serving the teachers and students” and timely responding to their demands and requests.
We still have to shoulder a heavy load of developing and are faced with numerous difficulties. We should struggle to move ahead and set sail again to make new achievements in the New year. The year of 2023 is the first year of carrying out the blueprint of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. It is also an important transiting year of the “14th Five-year Plan”. We will adhere to Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and follow the principal line of implementing the policies of the 20th CPC National Congress, sparing no time nor effort to promote the construction of the national and provincial “double-high plan”. We shall comprehensively deepen the connotative development, taking real actions, working conscientiously to complete tasks quickly in an energetic and precipitant way and to forge ahead towards the set goal. Continually shall we write a new chapter of high-quality development of the school, facilitating the province to create an “important window” of the “two advancements”.
