December 22, Beijing time, saw the opening of the China-US TVET Leaders Dialogue—University Presidents Cloud Conference. Hosted by the China Education International Exchange Association and organized by the Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, the dialogue aimed to further promote the platform construction of the Sino-US Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance, to cultivate new highlights of the Sino-US vocational education cooperation, and deepen the mutual integration and mutual learning between the two sides.
With the theme of Student Support and Service, the event shared the practical experience of student support and service in the Chinese and American vocational schools, and explored the ways of the high-quality development of the Chinese and American vocational schools. Yu Yougen, Deputy Secretary General of the China Education International Exchange Association, Curt Heideman, Governor of San Barbernardino, California, as well as leaders of education authorities, vocational colleges, experts and scholars from the two countries attended the video meeting.
President Chen Dequan, invited to the meeting, delivered a keynote speech, titled Focusing on the whole process of student growth and building a bridge type service and education carrier.
President Chen introduced to the Chinese and American colleagues the fruitful achievements of ZJIET’s high-quality development and education internationalization in the past few years. Elaborating on serving the student growth for the whole process, he talked about the characteristic practices and achievements of ZJIET in comprehensive talent development, including helping the students with services and in practices. He pointed out that students are the subject of college work. Supporting and serving their development is an important responsibility, as well as a strong guarantee to help them grow and become talented. ZJIET will always adhere to the people-oriented guideline, strengthen the top-level design, pay attention to individual differences, implement project-driven methods, and attach great importance to and vigorously support the student growth.
In the recent years, ZJIET has faithfully followed Xi Jinping’s idea of the New Era Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in its systematic education work. Oriented with the socialist core values, efforts have be made to solidify foundations, highlight important points, set up examples, and identify responsibilities. The school administration has explored and established experiences and model practices that can be demonstrated, guided, radiated and popularized, and formed an “all-round, whole process, every respect education system” for the comprehensive development of its students, and to achieve the goal of high-quality education. Such efforts have enabled it being rated as a model college of the provincial higher vocational education and one of the recipients of special support in the Zhejiang Province’s “all-round, whole process, every respect education system” reform.
