Recently, Zhejiang Department of Education and Department of Commerce jointly announced the first batch of Belt and Road Silk Road Colleges. Three ZJIET-partnered schools are on the list. They are China-Thai Rayong Silk Road College, China-Ukraine Silk Road Economic and Trade College, and Malaysia Kompas Silk Road College.

Since October 2021 when the project application officially started, colleges and universities in the province have applied for 43 overseas Silk Road College projects, of which 29 have been approved, including seven undergraduate programs and 22 from vocational colleges.

In recent years, ZJIET, implementing the MOEs Action Plan to Promote and Build BDI Education, has focused on serving the national strategy and regional economic development and strengthening vocational education. We have actively sought cooperation with the national education institutions of BDI countries and the multinational enterprises from Zhejiang in practicing and exploring diversified ways and means of going out. Our primary attention is given to the development demand of the Chinese enterprises along the Belt and Road when creating a vocational education mechanism in the cooperation with foreign schools. In exploring a new model of localizing talent training and technical services, we strive to spread the Chinese working spirit, advanced vocational education experience, and characteristic language and culture. And, we are proud to see some impressive successes of ours in cultural exchange and technical sharing along the BDI nations.

The China-Thai Rayong Silk Road College, jointly established by the vocational colleges of both countries and Huali Group, is the first Zhejiang based overseas Silk Road College in the Rayong Industrial Park, Thailand. Designed to meet the development needs of more than 100 Chinese enterprises in the industrial park, the college has set up a teaching model of implanting education into the enterprises, featuring a special industry-education integration with the former calling the shots. Special education programs like the localization of talent training, Zhongce Rubber Group Overseas Order Class, localized teacher training, professors-students on-site practice, and technical services introduce our teaching standards and resources to the cooperating countries and constantly improve the effectiveness of our pinpoint services. Our five years of cooperation has trained more than 3,000 enterprise employees, and led to remarkable improvement in the job-quitting rate, comprehensive quality and the cultural identity of the Thai employees in the park, which in turn has effectively solved the common difficulties among the overseas Chinese enterprises in hiring workers for a steady development.

The China-Ukraine Economic and Trade Silk Road Institute was established in January 2021, aiming to set up a talent training system, featuring double-position teachers, two-directional trainings, and 5-D capabilities enhancement through the cooperation with the Ukraine lvov Economic and Trade University. Furthermore, the school sets to effectively promote the standard export and two-way communication of digital technology and operation, big data and accounting, tourism management. Since its founding, ZJIET has provided the video Chinese Language + Vocational Skills training courses for the Ukraine teachers and students, and opened the Sino-Ukraine Master Lecture Hall. In addition, four serial activities have been organized, attended by 220 teachers and students from both sides.

Kompas Silk Road College was founded in April 2021 in collaboration with the Malaysian Shen Jai Education Group. Located in the Malaysian Kompas International College, it is designed to focus on the Malaysian digital + industrial development and co-operatives development. Our efforts are also seen in the constantly deepening cooperation with the education institutions under Shen Jai Group, Malaysian Associations Institute, and Malaysian HELP University. Through the 1 + 1 + N educational goals, namely joint-building one professional subject, plus one co-training program, and N talent programs with multiple co-operatives,we are exporting the professional and curriculum standards for the e-commerce majors in our joint-building subject and degree education program. We are committed to the innovation, entrepreneurship and cultural exchanges between the young people of both countries in boosting talent training in various fields for the cooperatives. Up to now, according to the requirements of subject co-construction, we have presented two sessions of the Chinese Language + Digital Technology and Operation training for the Malaysian teachers and students, developed seven course resources. It is a periodical success in our growing cooperation and exchanges.

In April, ZJIET established the Sino-Philippines Economic and Trade Silk Road College in cooperation with the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Parkson (Philippines), and the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on top of the Sino-Philippines cross-border E-commerce practice base. The Silk Road College focuses on the localization of talent cultivation in cross-border E-commerce and circulation of agricultural products. Through constructing the teaching practice bases at home and abroad, the college explores the orientated four-in-one training mechanism of enrollment—training—internship—employment for visiting students.

Next, following The Guidelines of Promoting the Construction of BDI Silk Road College from Zhejiang Department of Education and Department of Commerce, ZJIET will take the Luban Workshop Operations Standards (draft for trial) and the Luban Workshop Construction Regulations as the benchmark in its role as a Silk Road College in skill training, talent cultivation, country research, policy advice, and cultural exchanges. Bridged by the Silk Road College, we are determined to tell the good stories of China and Zhejiang, strengthen our international communications, and fully display the achievements of opening-up and development. At the same time, we will continue to improve the management mechanism of the Silk Road College, and upgrade its quality, so as to contribute to the new development model of the double circulations at home and abroad.
